Some BGT auditions are powerful because they are dramatic. Some are unforgettable because they are emotional. And some are simply so sweet that they make the whole room smile.
In 2015, Henry Gallagher, a 12-year-old schoolboy from Wigan, walked onto the Britain’s Got Talent stage with his guitar and a big secret: he had written an original love song for a girl he had a crush on.
The song was called “Lightning.”
Before he performed, Henry explained that the song was about how he felt when he first saw her. He was too shy to tell her directly, so instead, he did what young singer-songwriters do best: he turned his feelings into music.
Then he started to sing.
The audience immediately fell in love with his confidence, his charm, and the innocence of the moment. It was not just a cute song. It was a real little story about courage, young love, and hoping that maybe one special person would finally notice him. The judges smiled through the whole performance, and Henry received four yeses, sending him through to the next round.
